“Oh sing to the Lord a new song“
- What is the Sacred Music Composers Association?
It is an association whose members consist of the following:
Sacred Music Composers
Sacred Music Publishers
Church Musicians
Music Majors/Students/Teachers
Anyone Involved in Church Music
Anyone Who Loves Church Music
- For those on the above list, why should you be interested in becoming a member?
Because we need your help to preserve the Legacy and the Destiny of Church Music.
There are many now who claim that church attendance is declining, and that the majority of churches in America are not growing. Today, sacred music plays a major role in praise and worship. We must remember that God has a passion for singing. The Bible contains over 400 references to singing and 50 direct commands to sing. Those churches that are growing attribute much of it to maintaining outstanding music programs.
Because this association has as its major goal to promote and to provide opportunities for dialogue, education, advancement, and improvement of all aspects of the field of sacred music composition. This includes:
Providing through this website, sources of education and information such as a comprehensive list of upcoming events, copyright/licensing information, info on church music programs, info on Performing Rights Organizations, Composing Do’s and Don’t’s, Special Articles from Well Known Composers, info on new compositions, etc.
Helping Sponsor and/or co-sponsor events/seminars, etc for composers. Also, to promote already organized composer events. This will also include helping composers promote Choral Events/Concerts such as those at Carnegie Hall and also Composer travel expositions.
Conducting and providing videos, webinars and podcasts. Members are invited to submit their own created articles as well as recommend other existing special articles.
Conduct an Annual Sacred Music Composers Convention
